The Mattress Price Game

When you're shopping for a mattress, there are many things that can be confusing.
In 2010, we spoke to 347 of our customers requesting the lowest price mattress offered
by the major S brand manufacture (Sealy, Simmons, Stearns & Foster).

Below you’ll find an example that can explain the reality when asking this question: “Do you have the lowest mattress price”?

Example:

Customer: What’s your cheapest twin mattress set?

Mattress Liquidation: We have a Sealy Back Saver twin set for $179 or our China import mattress sets for $99.

Customer: We have been shopping for the past week and we found a twin mattress set for $69 / can you beat or match that price?

Mattress Liquidation: No we only sell new mattress sets but we have a china import compression mattress set for $99. What’s your use or need?

Customer: It’s for my mother in-law who is 78 years old and she doesn’t want to buy another mattress.

Mattress Liquidation: My cheap mattress from China will last 10 years according to the manufacture.
I’ll tell you the truth, it will last 1-2 years before you see sagging issues. It has low end polyurethane foam and a low grade coil system.
Surprising enough, we sell over 600 China, twin sets a year, mainly to collage students but I’ll be more than happy to sell you one.
Just plan on replacing the set every couple of years.

Customer: I appreciate the honesty, coming from a company that sells the china imports, we trust your suggestion.

Result: They bought a Sealy Back Saver Twin set for $179
